So at the end of my last post I discussed the fact that to this point the only information and reviews I’ve been able to find about the Mark Makeup product line are positive. As I also stated in my last article I don’t sell the stuff, nor am I married to somebody that does. I just wanted to drop that fact in so that you know I have nothing to gain by reaffirming the positive information that I found.

I went out on the web again this week to see if I couldn’t find some sites with feedback that was critical of the product line. Now maybe I’m not looking hard enough, or maybe my search engine query is just bad, but so far I haven’t been able to find anybody that is unhappy with the product lines. Maybe the makeup is just a phenomenal quality. I do know that most of the sites that I’ve looked at have been created and are maintained by individuals that fully disclose the fact that they are Mark makeup representatives. I’m sure you can see how this may bias their objectivity.

Thus far, the information I found seems to support my earliest thoughts that this makeup line may present an excellent opportunity for young entrepreneurs to get their feet wet in the direct sales arena. The startup cost is low, approximately $20, which means the risk associated is low. This very simplistic and straightforward product line gives young people an opportunity to get their feet wet in direct sales with a product that is produced by a well-known company, Avon, and products that seem to be of a decent quality. In looking for my critical information about the product line I’ve even gone as far as to dig down into comments sections on different Hub Pages and Squidoo lenses that I found. I still turned up nothing, nada, zippo, zilch.

So I will go out this week and attempt to dig through some more websites to see if I can find additional information about this product line to provide a more balanced perspective regarding this product. If you’re aware of anybody that has a horror story or was dissatisfied with this product consider leaving your comments with your information.

Mark Makeup Review

As discussed in my previous article, the Mark Makeup product line is a product of Avon. It provides young entrepreneurs with an opportunity to test their sales legs with only a minimum investment up front.

Having taken a cursory glance at the product sales website, I decided to go out on to the Internet to see what users and sales representatives were saying about it. My intention was to find objective information that speaks to the pros and cons of the products and the program.

My first stop was a Squidoo lens that was set up by one of the Mark Makeup sales representatives. With this stop at the Squidoo lens I received a full education on the Mark product line. It was readily apparent within the first few moments on this site that it was owned and created by a Mark sales associate. This is a good thing because the MeetMark.com site was kind of sparse regarding the products they sold. This Squidoo was very lengthy and provided a detailed look not only at the makeup products that Mark provides but at some of the clothing and accessories as well. In all honesty the line looks very well thought out and has a very broad selection of items that will appeal to most young ladies. One of the other things that has caught my eye about this particular product line is the expert use of Web 2.O. technologies to market it. I’m not sure if this is part of Avon’s marketing strategy when it comes to attracting newer consumers for its Mark makeup line, but if it’s not it should be. The creator of this particular lens has done an excellent job of setting the information up in a way that will be relevant to today’s young teenage consumer. Additionally the information provided has enough detail to spark the interest and curiosity of a potential reader but at the same time is not overwhelming. The information is provided in small snippets, each relevant to its own specific topic. Things such as how to best apply eye shadow, mascara application techniques, different dress fashions, what type of Mark accessories are best for young ladies, are all discussed. Overall the site was incredibly useful. As an attempt to try to hash out some objective information on the site I did scroll through the comments sections attached to each of the different entries; however, all I could find were comments that reflected a general positive attitude and feeling about the product line. Out of the approximately 2 dozen comments that I read I did not find one that was derogatory in nature or one that expressed displeasure with the products that Mark makeup provides.

In the interest of keeping this post short I will limit it specifically to the review of this lens. However my next entry I will do a more thorough search on the web to see if I can’t find users that may not have had the best experience with the Mark makeup products or program in an attempt to provide a balanced review of this service. As of right now though I stand by my earlier statement that for the $20 one would spend to purchase the starter kit I still think this is a great way for young people to get a sense of how private industry works and additionally to make a determination as to whether they have what it takes to make it as a salesperson.

Mark Makeup

Mark Makeup is the latest twist on the sale of makeup and accessories by Avon. The basic breakdown of this business is that it provides young women (ages 16 and older) with the opportunity to run their own cosmetics and accessories store with a limited investment upfront.

The product line has been deliberately constructed to consist of products that will appeal to your typical 16 to 25 year old. The product line seeks to mix the sale of these products with the opportunity to build a business and a personal network. The website is set up to provide mark makeup sales associates with the opportunity to seek support from other representatives. This is a nice touch because it helps first time sales representatives to feel like they are connected to someone outside of themselves.

The products are what you would expect for this type of site. They focus in tightly on the age demographic they are pursuing. It is nice that they know who their customer is and what their basic interests are. It is also nice that they have built a basic compensation plan for their mark makeup representatives that is fairly generous. The combination of the decent referral fees and associate discounts are sure to help keep their sales force engaged. Furthermore, the company seems to go the extra mile by forcing potential consumers that may be interested in purchasing products to speak with a local representative. This is a nice touch, because the company is basically demonstrating to its employees that it wants to ensure that someone gets the incentive associated with the sale.

Young ladies that are interested in getting started in this program can buy a starter kit for $20 (incredibly reasonable if you ask me). I would assume that this is merely an entry level kit to get you into the business. Once you begin to make sales and build relationships, I am certain that there are many other items one can purchase to help them sell their wares.

The program looks like it affords young entrepreneurs with an opportunity to try their hand at sales for a very low up-front investment.
