Mark Makeup – What Are Users Saying About It?




As discussed in my previous article, the Mark Makeup product line is a product of Avon. It provides young entrepreneurs with an opportunity to test their sales legs with only a minimum investment up front.

Having taken a cursory glance at the product sales website, I decided to go out on to the Internet to see what users and sales representatives were saying about it. My intention was to find objective information that speaks to the pros and cons of the products and the program.

My first stop was a Squidoo lens that was set up by one of the Mark Makeup sales representatives. With this stop at the Squidoo lens I received a full education on the Mark product line. It was readily apparent within the first few moments on this site that it was owned and created by a Mark sales associate. This is a good thing because the MeetMark.com site was kind of sparse regarding the products they sold. This Squidoo was very lengthy and provided a detailed look not only at the makeup products that Mark provides but at some of the clothing and accessories as well. In all honesty the line looks very well thought out and has a very broad selection of items that will appeal to most young ladies. One of the other things that has caught my eye about this particular product line is the expert use of Web 2.O. technologies to market it. I’m not sure if this is part of Avon’s marketing strategy when it comes to attracting newer consumers for its Mark makeup line, but if it’s not it should be. The creator of this particular lens has done an excellent job of setting the information up in a way that will be relevant to today’s young teenage consumer. Additionally the information provided has enough detail to spark the interest and curiosity of a potential reader but at the same time is not overwhelming. The information is provided in small snippets, each relevant to its own specific topic. Things such as how to best apply eye shadow, mascara application techniques, different dress fashions, what type of Mark accessories are best for young ladies, are all discussed. Overall the site was incredibly useful. As an attempt to try to hash out some objective information on the site I did scroll through the comments sections attached to each of the different entries; however, all I could find were comments that reflected a general positive attitude and feeling about the product line. Out of the approximately 2 dozen comments that I read I did not find one that was derogatory in nature or one that expressed displeasure with the products that Mark makeup provides.

In the interest of keeping this post short I will limit it specifically to the review of this lens. However my next entry I will do a more thorough search on the web to see if I can’t find users that may not have had the best experience with the Mark makeup products or program in an attempt to provide a balanced review of this service. As of right now though I stand by my earlier statement that for the $20 one would spend to purchase the starter kit I still think this is a great way for young people to get a sense of how private industry works and additionally to make a determination as to whether they have what it takes to make it as a salesperson.
